Recipe for gaining Water Confidence

  • Take a couple of kids
  • Place near a shallow pool – best in water where they can comfortably stand
  • Cream well and line with sun protection clothes
  • Throw in a favourite toy or two
  • allow the child to decide when to enter the water
  • Allow the child to explore at his or her own rate
  • Set the temperature on slow and patientclaire and sandra updated



  • Sit back and watch the confidence rise
  • Repeat at least three (3) times per week for approximately four (4) weeks
  • If still slightly underdone, allow another few weeks
  • Add a pinch of swimming lessons (at least one (1) per week)
  • Sprinkle with praise
  • And enjoy a deliciously happy child whose confidence will definitely satisfy
