The Way We Teach

Children are taught to swim using the part method. That is to say each skill is broken down into parts. As each part is mastered another part of the stroke is introduced and gradually, piece by piece the stroke is built up until the child can swim.

Initially we concentrate on Freestyle and Backstroke. Breaststroke and Butterfly are taught once children become reasonably comfortable with Freestyle and Backstroke.

The Strokes We Teach

To increase safety in the water, swimmers should be able to perform several strokes.

This gives the swimmer the ability to use different muscles groups should they find themselves in a situation where they are tiring in the water.

Most swimmers are stronger in one stroke than another. Allowing your child the time to learn a variety of strokes will help him / her find the most comfortable stroke.
